If you gave me one word to sum up 2015 I would say “Audience.” There are hundreds of experts in social media, all sharing their experience. One says to post at 8am, the other at 8pm. Monday is the worst day for some, for others Monday is the best day. Every client wants to know the “best time” to post to get the highest engagement. They are asking the right question but they are looking for the wrong answer. Everyone wants a specific time. A number that keys into their social media success. The truth is, there is no magic ONE number. However, there can be a magic number specific for you.

It’s not about that ONE universal best time to post on social media. It’s about the best time for your audience…and really, no audience is exactly the same. In 2015 we spent a great deal of time learning about our client’s audience. Who they are, what types of post catch their interest, when they are most likely to view social sites, and when they are most likely to engage on. It’s a bit of a riddle, a fun one at that!

As you move forward with social media…spend quality time getting to know your audience. Forget about searching the internet for the “best time” and learn from your very own fans. Be consistent but test different times of day, days of week and even the type of content you are posting. Focus your energy on understanding your current audience and craft your messages for them.
